“The Fascination”--(Hamm) She waits for no one; no one’s her star. And she’ll never get over; no she’ll never get far. She shields her eyes from the wake of the sun. She feels surprised at the damage she’s done so far this morning. Since her alarm broke all the spells that he spoke From the night before and spilled them ‘cross her bedroom floor. If she ever needed someone to believe in, There has never been a better time for looking inward. She makes her mind up, then makes her bed As she lays with the lies that have laid in her head. Identity unknown, a ghost in the machine The only interest shown from an Oz behind the screen Who sends the message: “I await your reply,” another dream to see die. Across a screen so clear, he’s typing what she wants to hear. Through time and cyberspace, all she needs a familiar face. In her mind she must replace, all the things she’s kept in hiding. Can’t you see the fascination in her? She’s got a child in her eyes. Wrecking ball in a world of wonder, She wonders why she tries. And she knows, And she feels, That her fascination’s so unreal. And she dies, Every night. Her face is faded in illuminated light From above/and she needs someone to love. She’s got a lot to learn about her faith In man-made and mankind. So now around she turns She finally learns it’s true that love is blind. A pixilated Peter Pan, her every wish at his command. All she wants to be set free A product of technology A good line is the best defense to keep it all from making sense. The only thing she has against it all is her fascination. ------- “The Stage”--(Richey) It was for worse but it’s not forever. Sometimes I think the feeling’s better to disregard or make believe that what was once can never be. We walk from one stage to another Led like sheep into the slaughter. Everyone must find their place into a world that they create for them, my friend. No salvation, the fee is your imagination. The end to each beginning is the stage. And I want to take you there tonight. When you learn to read the writing you’ll notice life’s not as inviting as you were told when you were younger; you’ll feel the water pull you under. Sometimes I’ll find me in the past as if it had not come to pass, as if it will come once again and things could work out like we planned, again. --------------- “The Separation”--(Richey) I haven’t called to say I love you; it’s been awhile but you know I do. I hope this time apart has done us good. I can’t erase a single memory. I can’t replace what you mean to me: every touch, every kiss, every blink of your eyes. When I heard you say “I love you,” I couldn’t believe those words came from you, then I saw that you were talking to me. It’s all right; it’s OK just as long as you’ll be my baby. I don’t really think you’re stalling but that won’t keep my heart from falling- in love, with you. And now I know you love me too. This separation must be ended The celebration has descended again. Make the rounds quietly softly. All this time tears still taste salty. You’re always sad when you’re with me. Well that’s OK I’ll see your heartbreak and raise you two more words that you hate. Why must obsession end in pain? It’s OK to feel depression when you find a love detection. You’re the only dream I ever loved.

about

Four years in the making, but well worth the wait, The Pozers’ critically praised & award-winning 6th CD, The Sun’s Going Down,' offers a laudable follow-up to their iconic 5th CD, ‘Embrace Your Addiction.’ Pure Power Pop!

Produced by Roger Manning, The Pozers return the top of the power pop world with their 6th CD release, ‘The Sun’s Going Down.’ ‘The Sun’s Going Down’ is the much anticipated follow-up to its highly successful and critically acclaimed predecessor, ‘Embrace Your Addiction.’ In addition to receiving tremendous amount of radio airplay from power pop radio stations worldwide, ‘The Sun’s Going Down’ has garnered some high praise and honors in the power pop world:

1. ‘The Sun’s Going Down’ made IPO Founder, David Bash’s, “Favorite Albums of 2012” list.

2. The Pozers’ song “My Maze” from ‘The Sun’s Going Down’ was featured on the International Pop Overthrow: Vol. 15 CD. Powerpopaholic.com said, “One of the highlights on the IPO Vol.15 disc, The Pozers ‘My Maze’ add a Beatles-ELO influenced gem. Overall, you’ll be coming back for repeat listens. I guarantee it!”

Here is what some of the industry people are saying about the new CD:

"I've seen all debuts from KISS, to Queen, to Cheap Trick to U2 opening for J.Geils here and almost getting booed of the stage at our Convention Center. I must say, these Pozers are NO posers. Like the Bodeans and Wilco meet Sgt. Pepper's. They have a keen sense of power-pop-persuasiveness. I predict they'll have their OWN army of followers."
--Bill Starkey (founder of the Kiss Army)

“Hiya Fellas, CD sounds really good. super cool stuff!” --Johnny Monaco (Musician: Enuff Z’nuff)

“Long time powerpop veterans The Pozers deliver their strongest effort in their 18 year career.”
—Bruce Brodeen (Pop Geek Heaven)

“Got it! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Unwrapped and ready to go. Caught the Beatle quote in “Spacecar”. Cool! Listening to “All She Wrote” now. Great harmonies as always! Any videos in the works? HUGE fan here! Love it!”
--Gordon Gerald Giles Gebert (Author/ Musician: Angel )

“I just listened to a whole bunch of the tunes, and like it very much. You guys are a throw back to when music was good, melodic, with really good playing. Just wanted to say ‘well done.’" --Lydia Criss (Author and former wife of Peter Criss)

"Got the CD. Thank you! Great job!" --Cady McClain (Actress/Author/Director)

“The Pozers’ disc, Embrace Your Addiction, got quite a bit of love in power pop community back in 2004. As for The Sun’s Going Down, it’s a tour de force of power pop styles. The fuzzed-out guitars of “Spacecar” answer the question of what Guided by Voices would have sounded like in 1968, the loping yet melodic “All She Wrote” could pass for a lost Nuggets classic, and “The Separation” expertly evokes Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys."
--Absolutepowerpop.com

“The Pozers new album [‘The Sun’s Going Down’] is fresh fun. “Spacecar” is a fast paced fuzz guitar fest that sounds like a mix of Vinyl Candy and The Banana Splits. “All She Wrote” has a great beat and some nice Beatlesque slide guitar with its bouncy melody. The lush production on “My Maze” and “The Fascination” are similar to ELO in composition and they’re a big highlight.” --Powerpopaholic.com

"The Pozers continue to display their trademark formula of power pop/rock: featuring gifted lead vocalists/songwriters, lyrical depth, melodic hooks, rich vocal harmonies, and punchy and fuzzy guitars - all the while showcasing a flair for diverse styles and eclectic rhythms and instrumentation. 'The Sun’s Going Down' pushes the gamut from the lush 'Sgt. Pepper' meets 'Pet Sounds' chorale brilliance, to bluesy-piano and Cheap Trick styled power pop. The record reads like a musical textbook: so read, listen, and learn." Jim Richey's vocal style reminds us a lot of Buzz Zeemer's Frank Brown and Kool Kat's Frank Royster. EXCELLENT!!"—Kool Kat Musik.com

"These Texas boys would desperately like you to believe they hail from the docks of Liverpool, but thankfully their music is catchy and buoyant enough in its own right to disregard the explicit homages to a certain Fab Four, especially said Fab Four’s sunny psychedelic Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour incarnation. Check out the achingly beautiful “My Maze,” the also achingly beautiful “The Fascination,” the Elvis Costello power-pop of “Every Little Chance You Get,” and the bouncy, vaudevillian head trip “Losing My Mind” on their sixth LP The Sun’s Going Down for a sweet aural treat. Don’t be fooled by the name: The Pozers obtain their own distinct style, voice, and charm, one rooted in the past yet, luckily for us, stuck in the present." --Nick Schneider (The OWL Magazine- theowlmag.com)

"I am happy to say that I have known of The Pozers' music since the mid '90s. Their first album came out at a time when the world was tuned into grunge; it was a hostile environment for pop songwriters. My true friend and former band mate, Jim Richey, kindly invited me to sing a few backing vocals on The Pozers 2nd CD, 'We’re The Pozers and so Are You.' I had a wonderful time tracking my vocals, because everything that they wrote, and I sang on, felt very very natural. The Pozers and Joey C. Jones have similar influences. The latest Pozers CD [The Sun’s Going Down] shows their evolution as songwriters and players. I love this band because they always stay true to themselves. I recommend this CD to anyone who likes melody-influenced, good rock. Thank you Jim, and the rest of The Pozers. Good luck to my talented friends!"
– Joey C. Jones (Sweet Savage/C.C. Deville band/Glory Hounds)

"THE SUNS GOING DOWN, The Pozers most recent release solidifies their power pop sound even further! That sound is grounded in the style of bands like Cheap Trick, Enuff Znuff, and The Beatles. What makes this CD an interesting listen is the variety of styles the band ventures into. Sometimes pop, sometimes rock, sometimes psychedelic, sometimes indie rock. It all fits together nicely making for a fine power pop offering that many will enjoyed! Highly recommended." --Jam Records
