about

The Pozers’ award-winning 2nd album, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You' is a reflection on life as seen through their looking glass--offering thoughts ranging from paranoia, addiction, Lennon, and lesbians...to peace, love, and other cliches.

The Pozers’ award-winning 2nd album, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You' is one for the ages. Every successful band has the album that first put them on the musical map. For The Pozers, their second release, ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ is that album. Aside from its many awards, high volume of sales worldwide, and considerable amount of radio airplay it received at the time, it’s a historical album on a number of levels:
1. It was the first full length album recorded and released by The Pozers.
2. It was the first Pozers' album to be released on both CD and Cassette.
3. It was the first Pozers' album to receive worldwide distribution.
4. It was the last Pozers' album to be recorded at Elm Street Recording Studio in Paris.
5. It was the last album and tour using The Pozers' original image/gimmick, which was each member of the band would dress like a musician from a different genre of music, illustrating that poseurs exists in all genres of music. The Pozers first photo session revealed a glam rocker, grunge rocker, biker, and cowboy. On ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ the biker and country guys were replaced with a punk rocker and prep.
6. It was the last album to be promoted more from touring rather than the internet. When this CD was released, the internet was still in its infancy so The Pozers promoted this album the old fashion way--on a series of tours…playing everywhere, mostly headlining, but occasionally opening for some established artists.

Some people mistakenly think ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You’ is the debut album released by The Pozers, but it is not; that honor belongs to The Pozers self-titled, ‘7 song EP’ which was released only on cassette a year earlier. To give a little background on the origins of The Pozers and how all this transpired, we will have go back to January 1994, when Jim Richey formed The Pozers and they began playing the club circuit throughout the southeast United States. Their "big break" came when “T.N.A. Records” (Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas) A&R manager, Mark Lee, caught the band’s show at Dallas City Limits and the next week, signed The Pozers to a record deal. Shortly after, The Pozers signed a management contract with “6th Floor Management” and a publishing deal with ASCAP publishers, “Mirror Town Music.”

In May, 1994, The Pozers entered the famed “Elm Street Recording Studio” in Paris to record and release their debut album: a seven song EP simply entitled, ‘The Pozers.’ The EP cassette went on to sell over one-thousand copies in just three months. This success prompted T.N.A. Records to sign The Pozers to a multi-album record contract and finance a full length CD and promotional campaign for The Pozers.

In April, 1995 The Pozers returned to Elm Street Recording Studio to record what would become, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You.' Legendary vocalist/songwriter, Joey C. Jones (from the C.C. Deville Band, Sweet Savage, and The Glory Hounds) was the Executive Producer of the album and sang on three of the songs. Other local celebrities and friends of the band made guest appearances on the CD, including Craig Bradford (from The Glory Hounds, Nobody’s Children, and Needle Park), who played guest guitar on a song. Eric Moreno engineered the album and sang on a track. Mike Maddux did the art production, Ray Harrison and Chris Means did the photography, but ALL of the songs were written by Jim Richey and Kenny Swann.

After seven grueling months in the studio, the CD, 'We're The Pozers and so Are You' was finally released on November 18, 1995. Sells of the CD began to skyrocket throughout the south-central United States followed by radio interviews and a substantial amount of airplay. Only two short months after the CD's release, it was picked up by two worldwide distributors: "Perris Records" and "Delinquent Records," which got the album overseas. The band's success in the European and Canadian market exceeded any and all expectations T.N.A. records and 6th Floor Management. This lead to a feature in Metal Edge magazine (followed by several articles in most major rock magazines and newspapers in America and abroad) and a United States tour. The Pozers toured from 1995 through 1997 promoting 'We're The Pozers and so Are you. The tour finally ended in Longview, Texas in April, 1997.--Eric Blair (Amazon)

Here is what some entertainment industry people said about We're The Pozers and so Are You:

“Detached observances of drug addiction, mental illness, Generation X, sexual hang-ups, lost love, and life’s shades of gray are themes in 'We’re the Pozers and so Are You, the latest release by The Pozers. The Pozers' sound encompasses Cheap Trick, The Cure, and 1960s pop bands, but in looks and soft-edge rock n roll the band is reminiscent of T-Rex. Studio effects before and after songs provide continuity as well as hold listener attention. Though with a surreal quality in the music, songs aren’t jumbled with a lot of words to form diverse images and meanings—and confusing listeners. Tight writing ensures the message of each song is clear.” --Cherie Bell - The Paris News

“It has been a neat experience hearing the re-release of ‘We’re The Pozers and so Are You.’ The CD is a reflection on life as seen through their looking glass – where they offer thoughts ranging from paranoia, addiction, Lennon, and lesbians...to peace, love, and other clichés. I was going through the old materials and touring merchandise at the time, a flood of memories came back to me. This album was promoted way more from touring rather than the internet. When this CD was first released in 1995, the internet was still in its infancy so they promoted the album the old fashioned way - on a series of tours, mostly headlining, but occasionally opening for some established artists. But the main thing about this CD I like are the songs. I am still proud of them and I’m glad they are back out there for newer fans to discover. GREAT!!”--Eric Blair (Amazon)

“The POZERS - WE'RE THE POZERS AND SO ARE YOU (NEW REMASTER 2017 RELEASE ON CD): This is a repress of the POZERS second album . Originally released 20 years ago, it's available again for those of you who missed this the first time around. This is excellent Beatle flavored power pop with a British flavor inspired by everything from T Rex, Herman's Hermits,The Three O'clock,Let's Active,Squire, The Shambles, The Byrds, and Television Personalities. One of the most BRITISH sounding bands from the USA that I have ever heard. This one will be a hit with most of the power pop fans ...so don't miss it. Grade A”--Jeremy Morris - Jam Records

“This is the remastered and re-released version of their, until now, out-of-print debut full-length CD 'We’re The Pozers and So Are You' from 1995. Legendary vocalist/songwriter, Joey C. Jones (from the C.C. Deville Band, Sweet Savage, and The Glory Hounds) was the Executive Producer of the album and sang on three of the songs. Other local celebrities and friends of the band made guest appearances, including Craig Bradford (from The Glory Hounds, Nobody’s Children, and Needle Park), who played guitar on a song. This CD and years of touring promoting it solidified The Pozers and put them on the musical map. Although the first official release by was a 7 song EP released in 1994, ‘We’re The Pozers….’ was the first full length album recorded.” -- Ray Gianchetti - Kool Kat Musik

“Relax moms, The Pozers are scarier looking than they sound. The band brings its mix of metal & pop. The Pozers was founded by Jim Richey, the band’s singer, drummer, & songwriter. Their recent recording, 'We’re The Pozers and so Are You' is making a profitable notch in the European music market. One of their songs reached Denmark’s top 10. The Pozers, named by Richey, is a play on the term “poseur”--one who assumes a manner or attitude to impress others; in the music business refers to “wannabes”--people who go along with trends. But The Pozers’ music bucks the trends, while relying on elements that work: clear lyrics, sing able melodies, metallic guitar, double time beats, & fantasy synthesizer. Their music is reminiscent of Cheap Trick & The Cure. The Pozers are made of four 20 something year olds & has been touring nonstop across the US promoting their new CD, which is available at Hastings & On Cue’s nationwide & through various online distributors.”--Cherie Bell - The Paris News

“The Pozers: Rock with a sexy voice, alternative band based in classic power pop/rock style with a modern spin!”
